Nara Sakura Cotton Stole
Yamato Momen Koubou Godo Kaisha (Nara)
This stole is woven from “Sakura Cotton,” cultivated in the Katsuragi region of Nara Prefecture within the Yamato Basin. It features a soft and gentle texture. The textured knit retains air, providing insulation while remaining gentle on the skin—making it suitable for delicate and baby skin. It serves as a solution for air-conditioned environments during the summer and provides warmth during the winter, making it versatile throughout the seasons. Its lightweight and wrinkle-resistant nature makes it convenient for everyday outings and travels, easily compacted without creasing.
Yamato Momen places a strong emphasis on crafting products that celebrate cotton in its raw, unadulterated form, in contrast to the prevailing trend of highly engineered clothing. The company nurtures cotton through organic farming methods and exclusively employs hand-picked cotton for spinning, knitting and the entire production cycle. The naturally occurring off-white hue (kinari) attests to the absence of any dyeing or bleaching processes. During the Edo period, the Yamato Basin, with its scarce rainfall, prospered as a cotton-producing region. Over time, cotton textiles were refined and evolved into the present-day local knit industry. “Sakura Cotton” is a regionally born brand that revitalized cotton cultivation out of gratitude to predecessors and pride in local industry. With the aim of being gentle to both materials and people, the Sakura Cotton Stole embraces the body and soothes the soul.
