The extremely rare “Shinku no Misuzu” strawberries are freeze-dried and coated with chocolate. This local variety of Chiba Prefecture is characterized by the dark red flesh and its nickname “black strawberry” comes from its blackish appearance. Compared to common strawberries, it is less tangy and features an intense sweetness, color, aroma and flavor. “Shinku no Misuzu” variety is grown only by a few producers and the number of berries that one plant can produce is limited, therefore, it is known as the phantom strawberry rarely found on the market. A thin coating of chocolate is applied so that the natural flavors of the strawberries can be enjoyed more. Using the finest chocolate from Spain, the glossy coating and melting texture are achieved by a special method. This is truly a unique handmade chocolate treats that enhance the delicious flavor of the strawberries. Freeze-dried strawberries without chocolate coating are also available for those who want to enjoy the natural taste of the fruit.
