ZOONUTS series is a colorful sweet with adorable animal faces peeking out of a ring doughnut. Instead of deep frying, the doughnuts are baked and therefore healthier because they don’t use oil. In addition, the dough contains collagen, making the product even more appealing to women. ZOONUTS doughnuts are a creation of the confectionery’s motto to make products that would bring joy to both the giver and the receiver. The product was inspired by its store name Carino, which means “cute” in Italian, while also reflecting its hope of producing cute sweets that make people smile. And before anything else, the confectionery values the spirit of omotenashi.
Wheat flour and chicken eggs sourced from Fukuoka Prefecture are used for the ingredient. The “Kame-jirushi Tokujo” is high quality stone-ground flour and the “Kioran” eggs are characterized by the brightly colored yolks, and the resulting dough is moist and soft. The adorable faces of the animals are drawn one by one by the pâtissiers with a hope of delivering happiness to customers. The confectionery was founded in 2000 in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. “Dolce di Rocca Carino” means “cute fortress of sweets” in Italian. The owner pâtissière is devoted to offer sweets and other food menus made using carefully selected ingredients grown absorbing the powers of nature in the local area, while also incorporating modern tastes and inspirations gained from her many trips to Italy.
