Established in 1998 and celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Eagle Feather, crafted by GRANT, a jewelry brand, is a collection of silver jewelry meticulously handcrafted by its founder, Hajime Kubota. There is a saying that when holding an eagle feather, one must speak only the truth and never falsehood. Drawing inspiration from this belief, Mr. Kubota explains his commitment to individually handcrafting each piece of jewelry without using molds.
“Naturally, people can live without accessories. However, I create each piece of jewelry with heartfelt dedication. Those who wear my jewelry, when facing tough times, uncertainties, or doubts, can hold onto this Eagle Feather, close their eyes, and discover their genuine feelings, free from falsehood. Just like an eagle soaring freely through the sky, I wish for them to embrace their strong free will and walk a life true to themselves. This is why I believe there’s profound significance in the process of carefully handcrafting each piece,” says Mr. Kubota.
Mr. Kubota arrived at this technique through self-study and trial and error. Crafting the lightweight wings from metal, which embody the essence of taking flight, presented significant challenges. With the goal of sharing these wings with people around the world, he continues to put in daily effort, embracing the pride and soul of “Japan, the Land of Craftsmanship.”
