ARCLEAD’s home of Gosen city in Niigata prefecture is the top producer of knitted products in Japan. The company was founded here four years ago by skilled staff who have been engaged in knit manufacturing for many years. Applying their extensive experiences with consignment production, they endeavored to develop their own product from planning to manufacturing and sales, and created these stoles geared toward customers of all ages and gender. The three key points are: 1) Reversible design by employing a knitting technique called double cloth, so both sides are outer materials; 2) While conventional knitted products go through a felting process to soften and give texture to the fabric, this stole is processed with heavier felting so that the meshes are condensed to almost a felt textile-like finish, helping to shut out breezes and retaining warmth very well; and 3) Colorful pockets that add accents to the design. Manufacturing of knitted products involves many handworks in the processes. The company’s skilled artisans put their hearts into each process of creating this stole, with hopes for the product to reach many customers.
