The sauna hats called Mebuka are made specifically for the sauna by hand by experts with carefully selected materials that are light and gentle on the skin. The hats use special “Super ZERO” fiber developed by Asano Nenshi and are dyed and sewn at a factory in Imabari in Ehime Prefecture, Japan’s largest producer of towels. The hats have cleared strict inspection criteria and have been certified as an authentic Imabari brand.
Particular attention has been given to the materials used to ensure exceptional moisture absorption and breathability, with the aim of maximizing the advantages of wearing a sauna hat. Wiping the hair with the sauna hat does zero damage to the hair cuticles while it also has the benefits of protecting the hair from the heat of the sauna and preventing the scalp from drying out. In a test to see how well the hats protect against the heat conducted by a third party, it was found that they maintain a temperature of 37°C even after being worn for 30 minutes and are effective in preventing hot flashes. The product has been certified and recommended by the Japan Atopic Dermatitis Patients Association, even for people with sensitive skin. The hats are machine-washable and easy to care for.
One-size-fits-all for both men and women and can be worn comfortably by people who tie their hair back or who have larger than average head size.
