Brewery’s mandarin orange liqueur
EIKOH SAKE BREWERY INC. (Ehime)
The additive-free liqueur made from Unshu mandarin oranges grown in Ehime Prefecture is produced in Matsuyama City by Eikoh Sake Brewery, which has been dedicated to production of sake by using local ingredients and water and together with local people. In addition to sake, the brewery has recently been also focusing on producing liqueurs using an abundance of local fruits by leveraging its techniques nurtured through sake brewing. Facing the Seto Inland Sea, Ehime is blessed with a warm climate suitable for growing mandarin oranges. Grown under plenty of sunlight and sea breeze, oranges are known for their rich and sweet flavors. This liqueur is made using an abundance of juicy Ehime mandarin oranges and brewed slowly in shochu, or Japanese distilled liquor, produced by the brewery.
Although there have been fruit liqueur products made from Unshu mandarin oranges, Eikoh Sake Brewery spent about 18 months to develop the product in response to the request for a richer and juicier mandarin orange liqueur. The resulting product has a rich taste with a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. Enjoy the natural flavors of the ingredients free of additives such as acidifiers, colorings, flavorings or sweeteners.
