KAMOHADA Premium brew Mask features α-EG (alpha ethyl glucoside), a component produced in the fermentation process of Japanese sake. The Izumo region of Shimane Prefecture has had a flourishing sake brewing culture since ancient times, its rich history depicted in the myths of Japan’s oldest history books, Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. The company is a sake brewer based in Okuizumo town, making its liquor using locally produced rice, polishing them in-house and fermenting by the hands of a young Izumo sake brewer. This product contains concentrated α-EG extracted from the sake produced at the brewery, which gives the sake its umami flavor. While Japanese sake has always been said to give skin resilience and glow, contemporary scientific research proved that sake components have skin beatifying effects such as promoting collagen production and boosting resilience. The product also includes natural moisture retention factors (amino acids, organic acids) produced from sake, which can create a synergetic effect.
The product is named from the Japanese words “kamosu (ferment, create)” and “hada (skin)” to represent the face mask developed for cultivating the skin. The package design hides a passage from “The Tale of Genji,” known as one of the oldest novels in the world, which reads, “white, beautiful skin that appears translucent.” The words appear and disappear with different lighting, embodying the Japanese notion of modest grace.
