This is a special ponzu sauce, which is handmade by a chief priest of Ryukoin Temple in Yamatotakada City in Nara Prefecture. Ryukoin is a temple associated with Kukai (also known as Kobo Daishi), a monk from the early Heian period and the founder of the Shingon sect. The chief priest of the temple was making the ponzu sauce for about 40 years and it was usually served to mainly the local people, and due to its delicious taste became very popular. In order to make it available for more people, OSHO collaborated with the long-established Yamani Vinegar (founded in 1887) from Mie Prefecture to commercialize the ponzu sauce.
