Sanuki Lemon & Obara Beniwase® Mikan cream sandwich biscuits
Yumekabou Takara Kabushiki Kaisha (Kagawa)
The biscuit sandwiches were made using selected ingredients from Kagawa Prefecture such as Obara Beniwase® Mikan, prefecture’s original variety of mandarin oranges, Sanuki Lemon produced in Mitoyo, and Kagawa Oidemai rice.
Yumekabou Takara is a Japanese confectionery store founded in 1936 in Takamatsu City. Basing on the tradition and techniques acquired over many years, they are committed to create new products using locally-sourced seasonal ingredients to bring smiles to the customers’ faces and continue to be a beloved confectionery for many generations to come.
Obara Beniwase® Mikan, also called “Kintoki” mandarins for its distinctive bright red orange skin, is characterized by its high sugar content and ultra-sweet taste. Kagawa is also famous as a producer of high-quality lemons. The Sanuki Lemon variety boasts a great scent and a pleasant acidity.
The cream with alluring blend of citrusy notes is made by mixing the peels of the two citrus fruits and fresh butter cream, which is sandwiched between sablé biscuits made from Oidemai rice flour kneaded with Obara Beniwase® mikan for a refreshing taste. As you bite into it, you can enjoy a grainy texture of the fruits followed by a refreshing citrusy aroma that spreads throughout your mouth. Packed with local tastes, it also makes a great souvenir from Kagawa.
