This paper material dust box was made with the proprietary processing technology of TAMU, a paper package manufacturer with 100 years of history. The company focuses on the ecological benefits of paper, and developed Japan’s first environmentally friendly and durable paper dust box. The specialized technique in which two pieces of paper are plied and curled at the sides creates a material that is as strong as plastic, withstanding up to 158 kg of vertical load. While maintaining such strength, the product weighs only 233 g, so it is easy for anyone to use it daily for trash collection. The stylish design is realized through a delicate processing technique that makes the seams between papers indistinctive, as well as with a ring-shaped lid that conceals the trash bag. The Natural series has a soft finish, by purposefully not coating the exterior so that the paper’s natural color and texture can be enjoyed. The outer part of the lid and the inside of the dust box are treated with waterproof coating, so they can be easily wiped off when dirty.
Ordinary plastic dust boxes themselves are non-combustible and therefore difficult to recycle, however this product can be discarded as recyclable waste. In addition, the shape that narrows toward the bottom make them stackable, cutting down on shipping costs. In light of SDGs, the paper packaging manufacturer aims to change the consumers’ notion from simply “throwing away” to “producing as little waste as possible.”
