This backpack serves as a floating device by holding it in your arms in front of you to protect your life in case you fall into the sea or river. Made using a special buoyant material that is also used for the life jackets employed by the Ministry of Defense and the Japan Coast Guard, the product offers reliable buoyancy and durability in case of emergency while boasting a design that can be used in any situation. The torrential rain that pounded southwestern Japan in July 2020 triggered massive flooding causing severe damage to Kumamoto Prefecture and many people lost their lives. In the wake of such tragedy, Saibou Digital Inc. began to search for ways to contribute as a disaster prevention company, and came up with this practical product based on the idea that we may be able to protect our lives from water accidents if we wore life jackets every day.
The backpack was jointly developed with Toyo Bussan Co., Ltd., a pioneer in life jacket maker boasting an extensive track record of supplying life jackets to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Japan Coast Guard. Proven buoyancy material that is highly reliable is used in abundance in every corner of the backpack while for the fabric, recycled polyester that reduces environmental impact is employed. Backed by Japan’s world-class craftsmanship and careful attention to detail, all production processes from die cutting to sewing are carried out at a factory in Kumamoto by careful handiwork of the Japanese artisans to ensure that you can trust your life with peace of mind in case of emergency.
