Kururin Car
Woodentoy Letwoodbe (Kyoto)
Kururin Car is a wooden toy that flips over when it slides down from the slope when you put it on the attached slope. The company set up its atelier on the hill of Kitayama in Kyoto overlooking Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji and Ninna-ji temples, which are World Heritage sites. Based on the concept of knowing the “achievement of making it work, curiosity about movements and expanding the joy of working it out,” the company produces wooden toys that are fun to play with. This product rolls at a slow speed, so even infants can follow the movement with their own eyes. The toy is recommended to soothe babies by showing how it moves. Once babies are able to sit up, they begin to roll and play on their own, wanting to experiment with voluntary movements over and over again and play with natural interest. Using a picture book or other items to make multiple levels, a baby can slide it from above to have a great time playing such as by continuous flipping. Kururin Car has a simple structure and movement, but it is a toy that can be played with repeatedly as children grow and can be used for a long time.
*Kururin Car was selected for a 2010 GOOD TOY Award.
