Kami-daru is a sustainable paper container developed through proprietary processing technology by a paper package manufacturer with a legacy of 100 years. The company has developed products focused on its knowledge of paper and consideration for environmental issues, and established specialized techniques to strengthen the material through unique curl processing and paper plying technologies. By plying two pieces of paper and curling the ends, the material can withstand a load of 300 kg, strong enough to rival a wooden barrel, which is the reason it was named Kami-daru (paper barrel). When the load capacity was tested on NHK’s television show, the Kami-daru endured even 900 kg.

In recent years, the product has been employed at various settings including at 5-star hotels, recognized for the stylish design through processing techniques so delicate that seams between papers are barely noticeable.
The jyuubako is a traditional Japanese lidded box for packing foods for celebratory occasions. However, with the passing of age, nowadays it is only used for special events such as New Years. The company developed a paper version of this jyuubako, the Iwai-jyuu, so it can be more conveniently used by making them lighter and recyclable. While it is made from paper, the food serving space has waterproof linings so there is no fear for leaking, and can be wiped and reused afterwards.
