Made of eco-friendly Eva material and outsole with the company’s unique technology, STICO is a practical and functional footwear series with slip resistant features to oil, water and detergent that can be worn safely and comfortably. Prompted by an accident in which the president’s mother died following a fall in the bathroom, the shoes were developed particularly with an emphasis on non-slip features. Focusing on the fact that gecko feet provide an excellent grip and after carrying out five years of research, the company succeeded in developing the SUPER EVA material by combining nano ceramic powder and rubber, which complements the weakness of regular EVA material that is prone to deformation by heat. In addition, the new material does not harden or shrink even at low temperature, allowing you to wear them in cold winters or in freezer. Also, the shoes are comprised of three parts—the main body, non-slip soles and a toe cap that can withstand up to 500 kg—while being extremely lightweight, which is suitable for both everyday use and for professionals. What’s more, because it doesn’t use any adhesives, parts can be removed and replaced as needed. Shoes that have served their purpose are collected, restored to the original material and 100% recycled without burning, which allows reducing CO2 emissions by 880 grams per pair.
Produced in Hadano city in Kanagawa Prefecture, the safe and secure STICO NEC-10A shoes were recognized as one of the Select Kanagawa 100 in 2020 while also being registered as a return gift under the Furusato Nozei (Hometown Tax Program) of the city. In 2021, the shoes were also among the winners of the Good Design Award in recognition of the excellent design in addition to functionality.
