These ethical and sustainable relaxing shoes were created under the concept of “Feeling ease and color in everyday life and stimulating emotions.” The insole is made from upcycled tatami mats produced in Kyushu, taking the discarded igusa (rush grass) of the traditional material valued in Japan since the Heian period (8th to 12th century), and upper made from super soft eco leather tanned with vegetable ingredients to reduce emission of toxic substances. Inspired by ukiyo-e woodblock prints, the design is a beautiful contrast of the bright green of the tatami and glossy leather. Tatami has many features that provide comfort all day, including 1) moisture absorption, 2) odor absorption, 3) antibacterial to prevent athlete’s foot, 4) resilience, 5) heat retention and insulation, and 6) relaxation. The supple and soft eco leather is unlined to gently envelope your feet. Each product is handmade by artisans in a factory in Japan. Worthy of a Japan-made product, ample attention is paid to quality, from the detailed stitching to determining the best part of the leather for cutting. The shoes are good for both on and off situations and gender free, and can be repaired so they are enjoyable for many years.
