Arenca is a hair accessary for Japanese kimono style that can also be enjoyed as an interior decoration. In Japan, coming-of-age ceremony is held every year in January to celebrate people who are turning 20 years old. It is common that women wear a type of kimono called Furisode and a gorgeous hair accessory for the ceremony. While such hair accessories are usually used only once for that occasion, Arenca is comprised of individual accessory pieces so that the volume and style can be adjusted freely, allowing to be worn also on other occasions, or with more casual kimono such as yukata. Also, by placing them in a ceramic vessel, they can be also enjoyed as an interior decoration just like Ikebana flowers. The main art flower (artificial flower) and the traditional craft called “Tsumami zaiku” are all handmade by artisans.
