Born out of the desire to create safe and reliable products for everyday use, SHINE BABY&KIDS is a new lifestyle brand that delivers peace of mind to both the mother and the baby. The brand’s first release is the 100% naturally derived skincare series featuring domestic Alpinia speciosa plant, known as “getto” in Japan. The products use getto plants carefully grown from the seeds with special attention to the soil on a mountaintop in the village of Ogimi located in the rural north side of Okinawa main island. Appreciated as a traditional medicine in Okinawa since ancient times, the plant is also known for its intense moisturizing and skin conditioning properties. The lotion is blended with a special getto extract obtained from plants harvested on a full moon night with a particular method, which is believed to be superior in quality with rich aroma and nutrients. In addition, natural water containing silicon collected in the forests of Kusu-gun, Oita Prefecture, is also used to deliver active ingredients deep inside dermal layers while keeping the skin hydrated and firm. The packaging is made partially using FSC-certified paper and eco-friendly plastic bottles with illustrations designed exclusively for the brand by an artist with disabilities who participates in PICFA* activities. It is the hope of the company to continue offering safe products through manufacturing—friendly to both the environment and the human—that goes beyond just making products.
