TETSUNOMOTO COOKIES
Bakery Naninani (Hokkaido)
Tetsunomoto Cookies, meaning “steel materials,” is a baked goods set jointly developed by Muroran Institute of Technology, the university’s co-op store and the local Bakery Naninani to create a fitting souvenir for Muroran, widely known as the “steel city.” The cookies are inspired by raw materials of steel: Iron ore (cocoa), Limestone (kinako) and Coal (black sesame). The accompanying booklet “How Steel is Made” is overseen by Nippon Steel, the largest steel manufacturer in Japan with a major base in Muroran. The package designed by a local illustrator features a blast furnace, a renowned symbol of the steel city. The all-Muroran and uniquely Muroran souvenir is made from quality ingredients including wheat flour, potato starch, kinako roasted soybean powder and salt all produced in Hokkaido, and safe and natural to enjoy with no added chemical seasoning, artificial sweetener/flavoring or preservatives.
