For generations, Bijutsukibako Urata has devoted themselves to the production of kiribako, which are boxes made of paulownia wood for storing art and craft works, in the city of Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture known as a town of traditional crafts. By combining traditional techniques passed down over generations with new technology and knowhow, the company has established a manufacturing technique of kiribako boxes that are highly durable and aesthetically pleasing. Based on such technique and adding new applications, the one-of-a-kind, KIRIFT container series featuring a sophisticated design for kitchen/interior use was born. Although seemingly simple in design, each of these containers is made carefully by hand by leveraging processing technologies that takes into account the deformation and alteration of wood, which the company has cultivated over many years. As a result, margin of error is kept to a minimum while superb durability is achieved.
In addition, the company is also committed to contributing to the achievement of SDGs. The KIRIFT series is made of domestic paulownia wood that has not been treated with chemical preservatives and the adhesive agent used in the products is compliant with the Food Sanitation Act. No paint is used, but instead, the wood is burnt to give it a unique touch. The wood surface is coated with 100% natural beeswax cream, making it safe and secure for the users, the food stored inside the container and the environment.
