Kinkon Junmai-Ginjo “Edo Sake Oji”

TOSHIMAYA CORPORATION (Tokyo)

Toshimaya Corporation established in 1596 is the oldest sake store in Tokyo. Its signature brand “Kinkon,” which literally translates to “golden wedding anniversary,” is the only “omiki” sake offered to Shinto deities enshrined at Tokyo’s famous Meiji Shrine and Kanda Myojin Shrine. The company’s brewery is located in Higashimurayama City in Tokyo and has won several awards at the Annual Japan Sake Awards. Focused on quality over quantity, artisans at the brewery put in their time and effort everyday to bring value to the customers.
Made entirely in Tokyo using Kinuhikari rice grown locally and brewed with rare Edo yeast, Kinkon Junmai-Ginjo “Edo Sake Oji” is a new type of sake that strikes a masterful balance of acidity and sweetness reminiscent of white wine (alcohol: 13%; milling rate: 60%; sake meter value: -40; acidity: 8.2). It has been highly praised by sommeliers at renowned restaurants and many other professionals in the food industry while also receiving favorable comments from customers both in and outside Japan including young people who are not familiar with sake. Kinkon Junmai-Ginjo “Edo Sake Oji,” the Platinum Award winner (the highest award) at the Junmai category of Kura Master 2020 held in Paris, offers a new sake experience to foreign customers.
