Created by Wakoh, an established Japanese watchmaker with over 50 years of history, Wacocoro Tatami is a Japan-made watch fusing Japanese tradition and cutting-edge technology. The eye-catching band is made from borders of tatami mats, a distinctive Japanese culture that is said to have originated in ancient times. The decorative border of tatami is used to add a uniquely Japanese touch to the Wacocoro watch, and is carefully hand crafted by a watchband maker with a studio located in Japan. The case is made from SUS821L1, a special type of stainless steel that has better scratch and corrosion resistance compared with conventional stainless steel. It also has very small content of nickel, a cause of metal allergy, limited to only a third compared to medical grade stainless steel. Because the material is extremely hard, the entire manufacturing process is completed by hand in Japan, from the wire electrical discharge machining enabling precise material processing, to the final polishing. The watch movement used is also Japan-made.
