OFUKI series
SOMARU (Kyoto)
Ofuki’s main feature is that it is an item suited for the modern lifestyle while being made from silk that is hand-dyed by Kyo-yuzen craftsmen. Because silk itself is an expensive material, and the way the skilled craftsmen dyes the silk taking time and effort with numerous processes makes them even more expensive, there are not many Kyo-yuzen silk products intended for everyday use. Ofuki was able to reduce costs by simultaneously dyeing the products with kimonos, making them available at a moderate price. The white fabric goes through the exact same dyeing process as kimonos and is cut with a traditional scissors, then placed in a package made from tatoushi, the wrapping paper used in storing kimonos. Take an Ofuki in your hand and feel the authentic Kyo-yuzen dyed silk—the texture, soft touch and unique gloss of silk, as well as the vibrant color and the delicate beauty of the dyed patterns. It comes available in various types so that you can choose according to your need; Ofuki for cleaning eyeglasses, Okkii ofuki for tablets, Ofuki mini and Okuru ofuki mini for smartphones, and Ofuki petit for cleaning jewelry.
