In Kyoto, we can feel the changes of seasons from the flowers used as the motif of the kanzashi that decorates the hair of Maiko (geisha). Jointly made with a well-established atelier dedicated to Japanese traditional goods in Kyoto, cotoiro’s unique flower kanzashi ornaments are carefully crafted by combining petals made of Habutae silk of subtle shades of colors. The Kiyomizu ware is produced by Koshungama, a third-generation family kiln in Kyoto, with a decorative method called “Icchin” by using a cone-shaped squeezing tool applied with a persimmon astringent used to place glue in Yuzen dyeing on a white base.
