While various cultures around the world entertain people with food, did you know that Japan also has a bath culture that entertains people with the warmth of hot water? Yokudama is one such item that delivers the wonderful Japanese bath culture to the world.

■Origin of the name
Yoku (浴) of Yokudama refers to bathing and yukata, the traditional Japanese clothing worn after bathing.
Dama (玉) refers to its round shape. It is also a word that represents something precious from ancient times; hence we named the product “Yokudama” with the image of peace and a jewel-like sparkle.

The yukata originated from yukatabira, clothing worn in the Heian period (around 794-1185) and is deeply rooted in Japanese bath culture. Traditional hand-dyed yukata textiles are used to wrap Yokudama.

■Enjoy a genuine hot spring
Dissolve the whole Yokudama in a typical home bathtub (about 200 liters), and the resulting water will meet Japanese Hot Spring Law level quality. Going beyond a normal bath powder that only gives a feeling of a hot spring, Yokudama will provide a genuine hot spring experience.

■Select ingredients
In Japan, there is a custom to bathe with certain fruits and plants according to the season, such as yuzu-yu, a winter solstice tradition to float yuzu citrus fruits in the bath. Therefore, we focused on using edible materials and plants in making the Yokudama.
・Using only natural ingredients
We were meticulous in using natural materials such as metasilicic acid, which is a natural moisturizing agent always contained in natural hot springs, as well as Himalayan rock salt and beet sugar.

■How to use
First, enjoy a bubbly carbon dioxide bath in warm water — not too hot — to slowly promote blood flow. Then, raise the water temperature and start rubbing the Yokudama, so that the water changes into a thick and soft, opaque chloride hot spring.
