Shinobue yogakutyo sinonome (Shinobue Flute in Western Scale)
OTSUKACHIKUKANGAKKI CO.,LTD (Tokyo)
Shinobue is a traditional Japanese transverse flute. Our flutes are in the classical Shishida scale of hayashi music often played at festivals, and in kagura Shinto music, kabuki theater, folksongs and ensembles. Since the Edo period (1603-1868), we have produced the Shishida style. Basing on the tradition and techniques acquired over many years, we developed the Shinobue Yogakucho Shinonome series tuned in Western scale so that they can be played in ensembles with piano and stringed instruments, or for a solo performance. Does the performer choose the instrument, or does the instrument choose the performer? To support this encounter with our spirit of omotenashi, we are striving to create flutes that produce beautiful sounds.
