Soul Petit Pot Kanata

Memorial Art Ohnoya, Inc. (Tokyo)

Keeping some of the ashes of a departed loved one close in a small urn is gaining popularity as a new form of a rite called kuyo, in which people memorialize and show veneration for a departed soul. The Soul Petit Pot Kanata incorporates the traditional craft copper working from Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. Takaoka copperware boasts more than 400 years of history and its craftsmen are incredibly skilled. The urn is made sturdy and designed in a shape that prevents it from falling. It also has an elaborate twist-off cover so that the ashes are protected even if the urn falls. In addition, both the outside and inside of the urn is treated manually by craftsmen using a technique where metallic materials are oxidized to create unique colors. It is an urn that makes both the departed loved one and the people who remember them happy.
