Mount Nokogiri (literally “saw mountain”), is located on Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture, and has a long history of producing Boshu stones. It is also known for its great lookout points at the remnants of stone quarries. The mountain is now a popular destination with international tourists, too. NOKOGIRIYAMA BAUMKUCHEN was produced in hope of offering a sweet cake unique to the region — the mountain’s beautiful lines created by the layers in the rock resemble a baumkuchen in appearance. Among the well-selected local ingredients are fresh eggs produced in Kimizu, characterized by their rich taste and milk from Miyoshi-mura in Minami-Boso, the place of origin of dairy farming in Japan. The production is carried out at a factory near the Mount Nokogori. It is very filling and the subdued sweetness will put a smile on your face.
