SOMEA tegaki yuzen dyeing silk wallet series

Ikeuchi yuzen (Kyoto)

Tegaki yuzen, or hand-painted yuzen, is a dyeing technique that is one of Japan’s important crafts. While the method is used mostly for kimono, the SOMEA silk wallet series was created to allow tegaki yuzen to be a part of everyday living by using stylish modern designs. Placing emphasis on domestic production, the series uses komashioze textile made in Niigata Prefecture and smooth leather made in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, and leather craftsman in Osaka Prefecture sew the items together. The komashioze textile used on the surface is known for producing great color while also being strong and durable. In addition, the textile is applied with a water-repellent and sunlight-resistant finish, making it suitable for everyday use. By adding a modern style and functionality to tegaki yuzen dyeing, this wallet series has a fresh charm that draws you in at first glance.
