Confectionery Shop for Children MIRAI SEISAKUSHO

PATISSIER eS KOYAMA Co., Ltd. (Hyogo)

MIRAI SEISAKUSHO, the Future Factory, is a confectionery shop that doesn’t allow adults to enter — parents have to wait in a room connected to the store. At a vending machine in that room, parents can purchase and eat a sweet named matteru, which means “I’m waiting” in Japanese. The meaning behind the name is that parents should wait for their children and listen to them talk about their experiences after and see how they’ve grown through it.
Both the counter and the iron plate for cooking pancakes inside the store are designed to suit the height of children. A transparent partition is set in front of the workplace to ensure safety.
The interior decor gives the impression of being in a futuristic secret base. There are fun devices, such as an electronic roulette game that you can play with after every sweet purchase, and a conveyor belt that uses a projection mapping to capture the children’s hearts.
The founder of the shop, Susumu Koyama, has won several international compeitions and offers authentic, high-quality sweets made with carefully selected ingredients. The idea comes from wanting to provide children with a real experience that helps them grow.
