The Villa Soso, unlike traditional ryokan inns, has no formal checkin or check out service, or even a room key. Guests simply enter using a passcode. You’ll feel like you’re entering your own private villa.
Four traditional two-storey Kyoto-style machiya houses have been renovated using wood and bamboo for a calming atmosphere. Though the interior and exterior are in quintessential Kyoto style, the amenities included are of a modern, Western style to create a fusion of the best of both worlds.
The bathroom on the first floor uses a mixture of Japanese and western style. Enjoy a soak in the hinoki cypress bath with your partner while gazing out over the courtyard. There is also an overhead shower, often seen at upscale hotels abroad.
Just like a vacation house, the villa is equipped for a long stay. There is an IH stove stop, as well as a washing machine and dryer. Whether you’re staying fora week or a month, you’ll have everything you need.
