Edokiriko
Shimizu glass co. (Tokyo)
Edo Kiriko “hokusai blue & red” was designed by combining Edo Kiriko glassware with Hokusai’s famous woodblock prints of Mount Fuji, a symbol representative of Japan. Drawn from Hokusai’s famous “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” landscape print series, “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” and “Fine Wind, Clear Morning” are recreated as motifs. Asymmetrical patterns and V-shaped engravings, which are not often seen in conventional Edo Kiriko designs, are applied to the glassware. It is engraved to appear as if an entire image of Hokusai’s print is surrounding the glass, overwhelming you with its dynamic design. The thickness and weight of the high quality Edo Kiriko glassware fits comfortably in your hand and sparkles beautifully when it catches the light. As a gift, or for hosting your most important visitors for drinks, this glassware will be the perfect representation of the Japanese spirit of omotenashi.
