A western take on traditional canned mackerel, Çava Can was developed as a way to encourage rebuilding efforts for the Sanriku region’s fishing industry. Çava is a twist on the French term “ça va,” which means “how are you?” and the Japanese word for mackerel, saba. It carries a message from the fishermen of Sanriku who hope to deliver happiness and good health to those who enjoy their product. Soaked in olive oil, the mackerel is very high in nutritional content and can be used for both Japanese and western style cooking.
